In the following text we strive to give an overview of how we will create your unique Hemmels Signature Series Classic, beginning from the point we fully disassemble the car.

Back to Bare Metal

Every Signature Series car is disassembled and taken its back to bare metal beginnings.

With the pure metal exposed and easily accessible we then undertake a comprehensive restoration of the body and chassis.

This painstaking effort is absolutely vital for achieving perfectly aligned doors and swage lines, as well as being the foundation for the legendary Hemmels paint finish.

Body-Off Paint

Time and time again we receive compliments on our paint finish.

The secret to our success lies in our commitment to spend the necessary time (typically weeks) preparing the surfaces of the car such that every line, gap and curve is perfect..

There is no shortcut or quick AI solution. The pristine finish is achieved by our experienced craftsmen who relentlessly sculpt the body and chassis by hand. The results are legendary.

Engine & Gearbox Rebuild

Every Signature classic is equipped with the matching-numbers engine and gearbox that are fully overhauled and rebuilt.

Restoring components back to 'as-new' condition is easily achievable on Mercedes-Benz classics due to the exceptional quality of the original engineering.

Combined with our considerable experience in rebuilding SL engines, you can be assured of a very reliable powerplant and worry-free motoring.

New Interior

New Leather, Carpet & Wood

Slip behind the wheel of Hemmels Signature SL and you will discover a world as elegant and exclusive as any luxury car.

Each Signature Series car has new leather seats, door panels and dashboard coverings along with complementary carpeting in your choice colours and stitching. Underneath you are cushioned with modern seat foam while 21st century sound deadening reduces road noise to a whisper.

Fresh wood trim completes the adornments.

Of course, a new soft top and fresh hardtop headlining completes the makeover.

Instrument Calibration and Overhaul

Each instrument in your dashboard is removed, cleaned, lubricated and re-calibrated. Fresh glass is used and the bezels are re-chromed.

The result is a ‘new’ dashboard that functions perfectly and looks absolutely stunning.

New Chrome and Glass

It is truly remarkable how a re-chrome and fresh glass can make your classic sparkle. 

From the outside, a new windscreen, headlamps and mirrors make a starling difference while rechromed bumpers and bezels capture every reflection perfectly. 

Inside a re-chrome of interior knobs, handles and instrument surrounds, along with new glass make the cockpit gleam. 

Our chroming process is guaranteed to be flawless – with results typically better than the new chromed pieces available in the market.

Suspension and Running Gear

Underneath your Hemmels Signature Classic Car is a symphony of mechanical engineering components which are restored or renewed including the braking system, suspension, exhaust, bushings and more. The list is endless - and the results will leave you breathless.

Electrical Overhaul

The entire electrical system is overhauled with revamped wiring, new or restored switches and contacts, new lights bulbs throughout and, of course, a new battery.

The restoration includes overhauling the charging system (alternator and voltage regulator), ignition system (points, distributor or optional electronic ignition) and high-tension wires.

Electrical noise suppression is also added for the infotainment system should this option be selected.
