1959 190SL Roadster LHD
We are delighted to present this pristine Mercedes 190 SL Roadster, newly completed following a comprehensive Hemmels Signature restoration.
The Mercedes-Benz 190 SL made its debut at the New York International Motor Sports Show in February 1954, marking the first time a new production model was unveiled outside Germany. Its appealing design and engineering drew heavily from the larger and more intricate 300 SL (now valued at over £1m), though it featured a simpler chassis adapted from the W121 saloon and a newly developed straight-four engine producing 105PS.
Costing half as much as the 300 SL, the 190 SL outsold its larger counterpart by a ratio of eight to one and proved especially popular in the United States, which accounted for nearly 70% of total production.
This eye-catching example was first delivered to California in 1959, where it remained until being imported to the UK in 2015. Upon arrival, the car underwent a full strip-down, with all sills and floors inspected and repaired as needed. It was then repainted, reupholstered, re-chromed, and had a partial engine rebuild carried out by the Sheffield Supercar Centre.
Acquired by the current owner in 2018, the car was then enjoyed for several years before he commissioned ourselves to perform a full sympathetic restoration. The work followed Hemmels’ ‘Signature’ Process, taking 12 months and carefully addressing every element of the car—restoring original parts where possible and replacing them when necessary.
Beautifully complimented in Anthracite Grey, with contrasting White Linen Leather Interior, with a stunning Grey Soft Top Hood. The interior features bespoke leather trim, with bespoke stitching, setting this 190SL apart from others.
Having covered very few miles since the restoration, the car is now perfectly run in and ready to be driven and enjoyed.
Worldwide delivery can of course be provided.
